The gencat.cat website uses the following cookies: categories of cookies and purpose.

Browsing this website with the cookies enabled in your browser implies the full acceptance of their use in accordance with this policy. If you do not accept the use of cookies, you can block them in your browser.

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that are downloaded to your device when you access certain web pages, and allow the website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of the user or their equipment, and, depending on the information they contain and the way the equipment is used, they can be used to recognise the user.

How do they work and what are they for?

  • Cookies form part of most websites. When you access a website that uses cookies, it makes the browser create small files on your computer (or tablet, smartphone, etc.) that contain the information necessary for the website to operate. These files (which are the cookies themselves) are part of the technology necessary for the optimum operation of the website and are not inherently harmful.
  • Your browsing history and the cookies are stored in your equipment. Cookies, in a similar way to your browsing history or browser cache, track your internet activity. This can be important if other people have access to your equipment. If you are using a shared computer, we recommend that you delete the information on your browsing history, browser cache and cookies. If you don’t know how to do so, refer to the Help page of your browser.
  • You can disable cookies, but some websites will not operate correctly if you do. If you are concerned about your privacy, you can completely disable the use of cookies in the Settings section of your browser. If you do so, it is possible that certain parts of the website will not function correctly.

Hotjar cookies

To better understand the needs of users and optimize our service and their experience, we use the Hotjar tool, a technological service that helps us to interpret and understand the behaviour of users when browsing the web (for example, the time spent on particular pages, the links they click on, etc.).

Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on users' behaviour and their devices, specifically:

  • The IP address of the device (captured and stored anonymously).
  • The size of the device's screen.
  • The type of device (unique device identifiers).
  • Browser information.
  • Geographical location.
  • The language chosen to display the website.

Hotjar stores this information in a pseudonymized user profile. The information is not used to identify individual users or combined with other data about an individual user.

How to restrict, block and delete cookies

You can restrict, block and delete the cookies installed on your computer by configuring the options of the browser installed on your computer.

Remember that if you block cookies it is possible that certain services or functionalities of the website will not operate correctly.
